How this all began...

Well it's not going to be a big secret...it was on a lazy Sunday afternoon and I noticed that my husband dvr'd (tivo'd) an Oprah Winfrey show. It had to be one of the most random recordings he has ever made. So, my curiosity kicked in and the show was about a tribute to Moms. It's July...no where near Mother's Day, so maybe this was a re-run. As I watched the first few minutes, it was clear the show was about...you guessed it, women getting together and encouraging each other to band as one to fight the fight of all fights...relate to what other mom's go through from sun up to sun down! How mom's walk around with smiles on their faces, yet they are screaming inside because they have grocery shopping and bills, dentist and doctor appointments, and then laundry is waiting from last week.."Honey, where are all my socks!" Like I said, another show about women and their issues, bla bla bla...oh but wait...a mom who had to drive her kids around the neighborhood just to get them to sleep, a mom who went days without showers, and a mom who made sure that if she was going to have a birthday party, she would have a keg on tap for the adults! Hmmm...now this show is getting interesting! I can actually relate to all of these. The women shared the funniest and craziest things they have done while having busy schedules! One lady even shared the fact that she forgot diapers while shopping at a mall and she bought maxipads in one of those dispensers in the ladies bathroom. She bought underwear from a children's store and put the pad in the underwear and said it worked like a charm! We are always forgetting things like diapers or at times we run out, but we never think to do something like use maxi pads! She is what I call a mother reinvented! These are the kind of stories I love to hear because not only can it be handy in times of crisis, but also fun stories to share with your family and your kids when they get older! So I was inspired to start this blog!

DJ and I have been married for seven years. We have two beautiful children, Bryson and Ava. Of course we can't forget our yellow lab, Yukon. Alaska is where we have decided to live and raise our family. We both work full time jobs and keep ourselves busy with sports and social events throughout the year. Like many, we are the not so perfect parents and we don't have the perfect story book marriage. But, we can tell you that these blogs are real and we share them with you not only to keep you updated on whats going on in our lives, but hopefully you can relate and try a new approach to certain situations. If the maxi pad approach is too much, well, maybe it will remind you never to forget diapers! That being said, these blogs will have special meaning to our family because we have a keepsake, if you will, of memories that we can read and simply...laugh! Isn't that what it's all about!

Love and Family First,

Ida and DJ Litteral
